These lessons have all been designed to target college readiness objectives for high school students coming from marginalized communities, low-income backgrounds, and who will be the first in their families to attend college. Unless otherwise noted, all work was created by Rhianna Anglin.

Introduction to Growth Mindset

In this video, I lead students in an online learning environment (using the Microsoft Teams platform) through an introduction to Growth Mindset.

This lesson's objectives are:

  1. Students will review information on Growth and Fixed mindsets and analyze how those mindsets may be appearing in their own lives.

  2. Students will evaluate artwork to draw conclusions on how mindset impacts our world view.

  3. Students will consider how to construct a growth mindset around challenging or difficult objectives.

Evaluating College Essay Prompts and Writing Introductions

In this video, I lead students in an online learning environment (using the Microsoft Teams platform) through an analysis and writing activity.

This lesson's objectives are:

  1. Students will analyze a common application essay prompt and identify the objectives they must meet when writing.

  2. Students will evaluate potential introduction frameworks to experiment with in writing.

  3. Students will apply frameworks to their own writing to create an introduction for their college essay.
